In 2000, I earned my Midwifery Degree from Geneva's Nursing and Midwifery College Le Bon Secours (Haute École de santé Genève) and immediately found work as a midwife with Geneva University Hospital's (HUG) Maternity ward, where I stayed for four years.

After several years in practice during which I attended many home births, I knew I wanted to offer more in terms of global coverage; so in August 2009 I opened Dix Lunes, the first Birth House in the Canton of Geneva.

In order to respond to the demand of mothers and families, in 2010 the Birth House moved to new premises in Puplinge, in the Geneva countryside.  The new premises continue to allow us to provide labour and birth accompaniment, but also offer new families the opportunity to continue their stay in a home-like atmosphere following a birth.  Consultations and courses continue at the midwifery practice location in Eaux Vives.

As each birth is unique, Dix Lunes is also unique.  It welcomes women and couples who want to bring their baby into the world in a secure environment, one that respects the physiology of the mother and baby, in an atmosphere that is both intimate, warm and relaxing.

Providing a welcoming and responsive venue, coupled with attentive, personalised and professional care, is also meant to be empowering.  It gives new parents the opportunity to listen, be responsible, be aware of the meaning of life, and be aware of each other in order to be able to build and strengthen bonds of kinship and solidarity.

Philosophy

As a professional midwife, my role is to take care of women and couples throughout the entire perinatal period.

My practice is based on several fundamental principles:

  • Providing both physical and emotional support  to the mother-to-be and couple, so they can live well and be confident about the processes of birth
  • Providing both global and personalised service to the mother-to-be, through continuity of care, which includes: pregnancy consultations and advice, professional assistance and support during the birth, and care and advice for the mother, baby and couple in the period following the birth.

In order to reduce the need for technical interventions, services also include the support and stimulation of natural physiological processes during pregnancy, labour and birth.     I also closely monitor the woman's health in order to quickly identify, anticipate and manage possible complications.

In case of need, I guarantee a quick and efficient transfer to other competent health care professionals (e.g. ambulance, hospital).
